An Apology and a Promise

Sorry. I just wanted to say sorry. I’ve been gone for two weeks and I haven’t told you anything.

The more astute of you will go, ah well that’s because you were doing mission total immersion, where you said you wouldn’t be posting for two weeks to avoid speaking English. But the even more astute of you will have read a post I deleted where I said I was actually going back to England, to go party for a week, and had completely failed my mission in it’s most extreme form by actually leaving the country. So that’s the truth, I’ve been gone, back in England, and since I’ve been back in Italy I’ve been too busy to write anything.

Too busy to write anything? Sounds like an excuse. But it’s not, one of these flippin posts takes me 3 hours to write (sometimes more), and with so much to say, I just couldn’t fit it in. Though this is a good thing as it means I’m actually doing interesting stuff, living with new families, learning recipes, all that kind of shiz that I set out here for.

I don’t have time now to write anything either because… well it’s my birthday. And I woke up today with two beautiful blonde german twins (female) in my bed, which made about as good a start to a birthday as I can remember. I saw them on a train yesterday, then I started a conversation and later made them accompany me round Rome while I asked hotels and bars to give us free stuff because it was my birthday (it was past midnight at that point). A fat tunisian receptionist said we could have a room for three for 60 euros at a four star hotel. He then opened the windows downstairs, got out the whiskey bottles, and we drunk and smoked for a few hours in the hotel lobby. I’d like to attribute this friendly offer to my charm, and skills in shoving my passport in people’s faces while drunkenly shouting look it’s my birthday, but really I think this guy, perhaps like me, was just after the German babes.

And that’s just a couple of hours of what I’ve been up to recently. I’m now pretty tipsy in Napoli with a guy called Ilario who is taking me round the city and being very generous because it’s my birthday, then tomorrow I’m cycling south to a girl’s house who apparently has a proper Italian mama who will show me everything about cooking.

So you’ve had the apology, now here’s the promise. As you can see I’m back, and I’m off adventuring to houses of Italian mama’s, doing the things I said I was going to be doing at the beginning of this whole shibang. England gave me some perspective on things, and I feel all the better for returning, I remembered the point of this trip. The promise is that I’ll be posting again soon this week, with some new ideas, and some new directions. All you need to know is this is all about to get bigger, better, and badder.

It’s going to be Mission Total Immersion 2; La Vendetta.

And this time it’s personal.

I love you all, it’s great to be back.

Ps. Birthday comments are welcome

Happy Birthday Samuelos – I’m leaving Sunday so hold tight for some updates of my own. x

    • Niccceee, are you going to keep a blog or anything? If you write something and don’t know what to do with it, send it to me and I’ll post it here as a guest post. Have fun, am kind of jealous, although I am still doing something fun here so am also not. Though there’s definitely more fast women in the states than in rural South Italy…
